UPGRADE YOUR COMMUTE WITH THESE 5 PODCASTS

We spend a lot of time in our cars going to and from work, study and running errands, all the while listening to the radio and wishing we had more time to learn something new or take some time to improve our well being.

We spend a lot of time in our cars going to and from work, study and running errands, all the while listening to the radio and wishing we had more time to learn something new or take some time to improve our well being.

Remember when you promised yourself to do that thing over the uni break? Learn a language, practice mindfulness or be more productive? Here’s to guessing you didn’t get around to it. In between life commitments, we spend a lot of time in our cars so why not make sure that time is spent learning a new skill? With uni and student life just around the corner, we have your daily commute sorted with a list of 5 podcasts to help you get it together.

1. To be happier and make better habits: Happier with Gretchin Rubin

Google Gretchen Rubin and you’ll quickly discover that if there’s anyone who can get you set up in the right direction it’s her. The podcast is co-hosted by her sister, Elizabeth Craft who affectionately refers to Gretchen as her ‘happiness bully’, which is probably what you need. Elizabeth and Gretchen give practicaladvice to start creating habits which will set you up for happiness and success.

2. To always have something interesting to say: Revisionist History with Malcolm Gladwell

If you’re looking for some high quality general knowledge that will make you infinitely more interesting when everyone has finished talking about work/uni/house prices then Revisionist History is for you! It re-examines something from the past that we might have gotten wrong the first time. Each episode goes for about half an hour, the ideal length for those who want to pack more into a quick  commute. It’s time to form an opinion on the ethics of golf courses!

3. To be more creative: Accidental Creative with Todd Henry

For those in or heading into creative industries, or even if you just want to be an endless source of brilliant ideas, Accidental Creative is the perfect podcast. Focused on helping you build worthy good creative practices, host Todd Henry chats with prominent creative individuals about what they do and how they have gotten so good at it.

4. To learn a language: Coffee Break Languages by Radiolingua

Forget everything you learned about learning a language at school if you were someone who dropped it as soon as you could. It’s well documented that learning a language is great for your brain, and generally accepted that it makes you a more interesting person-being able to say ‘voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir’ does not count. Coffee break languages are half an hour lessons that teach you the things you need to get speaking quickly for the sole purpose of impressing everyone you know. You can learn French, Spanish, German, Italian or Chinese, so there’s something for everyone unless you had our heart set on learning Estonian. That’s not available yet sorry.

5. To be more productive: Extreme Productivity with Kevin KruseIf

If you feel like you have absolutely no time to actually do the things you love between crazy work or study schedules, this podcast will magically find you another hour if you take the advice on board. Extreme Productivity is hosted by Kevin Kruse who interviews superstars across different fields on how they are more productive in a short snappy podcast that goes for about 15 minutes.

If you want to get it together this uni year, Honda has podcasts covered with great connectivity available across the range. Whether it’s the seamless Bluetooth connectivity in our Jazz, or Apple Carplay and Andriod Auto available as standard in CivicCR-V and Accord, ditching fm for a more productive commute has never been so rewarding.
