Are you curious about the best way to get rid of your old car? We’ve got a few options, come and check them out here.

Are you about to upgrade and don’t know what to do with your old car? Read on to explore your options.

So you’ve decided it’s time for a new car

Unless you’re planning on giving your current car to a family member or friend, you’ll need to figure out what to do with your old car.

Take a look at what options you have when you’re figuring out how to get rid of your old car.

Trade It In

Your first and your easiest option would be to trade your current car in when you purchase your new vehicle.

Assuming you purchase your car from a dealership, you might have an option to trade your current car in and get a fixed price off the cost of your new car.

The fixed price is dependant on the current condition, make, model and year of your current vehicle. If your car is too old, some dealers may refuse to trade it in as they believe it not to be beneficial to them.

To determine the trade in value of your current vehicle, talk to your local Honda dealership or an alternative dealer who you intend to purchase your new vehicle from.

Sell It Privately

Another option you have is to sell your old car privately.

There are a few different ways you can sell your old car privately. The most popular options are online marketplaces like carsales.com.au, CarsGuide and Gumtree. You can also go with a more traditional option like listing your car in the newspaper’s classified section or other automotive publications.

The main benefit to selling your vehicle privately is you can generally get a better price. However it often requires a lot of effort and involves listing the ad, getting a current roadworthy certificate, allowing potential buyers to view and test drive the vehicle and also negotiating with buyers.

Sell Through A Third Party

In addition to trading your car in or selling it privately you also have the option to sell direct to a third party.

There are a number of vehicle buying services online which act as an alternative to a private sale. They will perform an evaluation of your current car and offer you what they believe to be a reasonable price for it. Generally it’s less than what you could sell for privately however it requires little effort and the process has a quick turnaround time.

Scrap It

If your current car is too old to obtain a roadworthy certificate or has been written off in an accident your best bet might be to scrap it.

There are a number of car removal companies online who will come and collect your car and even pay you cash as they will strip the car of parts and recycle, reuse and refurbish them.

As you can tell, there are plenty of ways you can get rid of that old car and get yourself ready to be cruising around in a new set of wheels.
