Through extensive research we’ve built driver assist technologies into most of our vehicles that have the ability to reduce or prevent potential accidents.
These intelligent technologies may assist your situational awareness and in some cases, intervene to help avoid a collision or lessen the severity.
The two safety features below assist the driver in avoiding distraction and may help you avoid potential collisions with vehicles ahead. Of course you should always follow safe driving practices when operating a vehicle.
FORWARD COLLISION WARNING
Forward Collision Warning uses visual and audible cues to alert drivers when it detects the possibility of your vehicle colliding with the vehicle in front of yours.
It scans the road ahead and uses your speed and the speed of the vehicle in front of you to alert you if a collision is imminent. These alerts work to bring the drivers attention back to the road.
COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEMIf a collision becomes unavoidable, the Collision Mitigation Braking System may automatically apply strong braking in order to help protect occupants. It’s designed to reduce the likelihood or severity of a frontal impact. The technology works by sensing the vehicle ahead with a forward-facing monocular camera and a millimetre-wave radar transmitter.
The driver will receive audible and visual warnings, but when no driver action takes place, the system automatically engages to help avoid a collision.
STAY, DON’T STRAY
Depending on the severity of the circumstance, these next three car safety features are available to assist you in preventing your vehicle from straying off the road or into your fellow road user’s lane.
LANE KEEP ASSISTIf the Lane Departure Warning becomes engaged and no immediate action is taken to direct your vehicle back into its lane, then the Lane Keep Assist function may help correct this.
The Lane Keep Assist car safety feature uses corrective steering to gradually bring your car back into the original lane helping to reduce the potential for harm and keeping you and other drivers safer on the road.
ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEMThe RDMS system is designed to activates when it senses your vehicle straying too far off the lane. When the system monitors and reacts to a potential off road situation without the use of your indicator, it may apply corrective steering to bring you back onto the road.
If the system determines that its steering input is insufficient to keep your vehicle on the road, it may apply braking.
Honda SENSING includes technology that supports you when you’re on the road. With Honda’s goal of one day reaching a collision-free society, our third type of assistive driving technology aims to improve on existing driving tech.
Honda has developed the Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow as part of its Honda SENSING suite. It allows you to operate an adaptable version of traditional cruise control.
