Car seat safety anchors are standard across the range

To ensure car seat safety is at its most effective, Honda includes child car seat anchors across the entire range. When travelling with young children, they must be securely restrained in an appropriate car seat or booster. Fixed to the vehicle, anchors allow your child’s car seat to be firmly attached, so your child remains safe and sound while in motion.

Pedestrian safety

In the unlikely event of car-to-pedestrian collisions, the bonnets of Honda cars are designed to promote pedestrian safety and built to limit injury.

Honda's second-generation pedestrian dummy allows researchers to measure injury levels at eight different points on the body, ranging from the head to the lower extremities.

Using a unique pedestrian crash test dummy and our state-of-the-art indoor Crash Test Safety Facility, Honda is always exploring how to better protect drivers, passengers and pedestrians.

Seat belt safety has come a long way

At Honda, we believe that seat belt safety should never be compromised. That’s why 3-point seat belts now come standard in every seat of every car. 3-point safety seat belts consist of both lap and sash restraints ensuring enhanced car safety is achieved by all.

  • Emergency Locking Retractors (ELR) are sensitive to the motion of the vehicle and react accordingly, enforcing car seat safety. In an emergency, ELR locks the seat belt to promote passenger and driver safety by locking them in place, while still allowing freedom of movement when buckled up and in regular motion.
  • Automatic Locking Retractors (ALR) are useful when securing child car safety seats by allowing the user to set the desired position of the retractor. This does not allow the belt to lengthen, but only retract.
  • Pretensioners instinctively tighten to prevent the wearer from jerking forward upon sudden deceleration in the unlikely event of an accident.

Honda’s tips for driving with children:

  • Different children require different car seats - make sure you choose the correct seat based on your child’s age, height and weight.
  • Remember to update the child car seat as your child grows.
  • Never leave your children in the car unsupervised.
  • Set a good example – be sure to wear your seat belt at all times.
  • Check that restraints are adjusted firmly enough before you begin your journey.
  • Be prepared to stop the car should a child manage to loosen their restraints.
  • If going on a long trip, take plenty of breaks and allow the children to move around outside where appropriate.
  • Safe and appropriate toys can keep children entertained in the car, as can singing and talking to them.
  • To avoid injury or distraction, secure any loose items.
  • Engage the child door locks on any family car.
